AK Music and Talent Newsletter

Volume I

Issue I

HERE IT IS !!!

We finally have our first issue of the AK Music Video Newsletter. The format we have chosen is one that we feel will
be of real interest to our indy performers. We will bring you an interview with your contemporaries - other indy artists.
All of them are unsigned, but are working in the industry on a regular basis.

A portion of the interview will be on video. The in-depth interview will be in text format.

Look for a new interview the first of each month.

Interview with Yolandra

Interviewer (Sandra)

Question: Give me an idea of what some of the challenges have been that you've had so far in the business

Yolandra: I think the biggest challenge has been to promote yourself, to get into the right places to be seen. Management, proper management, suitable for yourself is really important. Also, the song selection that you choose is really important. Finding out who you are, accepting who you are and your vocal ability(is important). I strongly recommend getting with the best musicians possible, to align yourself (with them) as much as possible. Learn as much as possible. Learn more and more and more. The more you know the more you are respected and the further you'll go.

Question: How about some words of wisdom to new people getting into the business:

Yolandra: Persevere. What you really, really want to do is persevere. Set a goal. Set a small attainable goal and then go forth from there. But, set a goal and don't let anyone deter you. If you really feel like this is what you really want to do, then go for it.
