Enjoy this music from Poland.
Barbara started her interest in music when she was a little child. She started at the music centre and then the Music School - the first level. Her musical career began by playing the piano and she still does it today. She continued her education at the Music Academy in Katowice on the fourth faculty. Her first compositions came to light in the early eighties, mainly on the grand piano. All of them had jazzy character bacause jazz had became her main passion. In 1983 she took part in the Jazz Workshop in Chodziez and in Warsaw. Her repertoire at that time was mainly based on jazz standards, but also involved her own compositions.
After the workshop she got an offer as one of the participants to study in Boston's Berklee College Of Music in the United States. But she had to refuse. During her studies she composed the tracks of modern contemporary music, but with the electronic elements, which started to dominate in her musical interests. One of her earliest dreams was the wish to have the own recording studio, and finally it came true , firstly named "Diaton", finaly "B. T. Records".
After her never ending fascination and love for Keith Jarret, Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, she evolved to include as a very important place in her musical world Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, J. M. Jarre. At that time she realized her debut electronic cassette with her studio partner Wenancjusz Ochmann called "Visions". Many of her compositions were also released on the "EL Pop Laid Back" album and "Business Woman" - this time with her friend from the Music Academy - Sabina Borner for media needs. Most of those compositions from this album are available in polish media such as radio and television.
Barbara Zielinska-VAN and Sabina Borner have formed very unique electronic duet in Europe, called "Van & Borner". They are often invited to take part in different concerts, some of them are during varnishing days , some in Planetariums and some during rock festivals for teenagers like "Wagary" in sports hall "Spodek" in Katowice (one of the most famous venues in Poland), "Music and Show" in Warsaw, Multimedia Festival "El-Izerie", "Korez" Theatre, Szuster Palace, etc. A lot of her compositions are often presented in radio auditions in Polish Radio Programme III authored by Jerzy Kordowicz, as well as in many local radios.
In 2002 Barbara recorded her first solo album "Secret Garden" from which some tracks have been played in world radio playlists. In the same year Barbara also took part in the music project called "City Songs" with Nemezis, where they play together her composition "Nostalgy & Hope".
Barbara has also received notice as a composer of contemporary music during the 30 year of "Synthese" Festival in France (Bourges") making three of her compositions: "5 Minutes", "Antigravity 6", and "Tibet Bells" in 2001, 2002, 2003 years.
