Sonny, an accomplished flute and saxophone player, has performed with the Oakland Symphony, the Black Filmakers' Hall of Fame, and the San Francisco Partnership Annual Fund Raiser. He was Music Director at the University of California at Berkeley Summer CETA Program and Music Mentor Program in Oakland, California. Sonny received the Budweiser Top Star Jazz Artist Award in 1995 and 1996.
